NEWS - USPS & others closed Tuesday

FYI: Our mail carrier just told me that mail service will be suspended on Tuesday, January 2, 2007. Unless I am misreading, the USPS website confirms this (somewhat), nationally.

NO REGULAR MAIL DELIVERY OR RETAIL SERVICE ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 2
Federal agencies will honor the memory of former President Ford

WASHINGTON – There will be no regular mail delivery or retail service at Post Offices on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, due to an Executive Order issued by President Bush directing federal government agencies to close as a mark of respect for former President Gerald Ford, who died Dec. 26. Express Mail deliveries will be made on Jan. 2. Regular retail and delivery service will resume Wednesday, Jan. 3.”

Note that express mail deliveries will still take place. I'm not sure how this affects banks and other agencies.

Wow West, I must have been in champagne heaven but I didn't hear this. I'm still waiting for a package that was sent since before Christmas. Grrr!

Someone else told me the same thing just a few days ago. In fact, my friend who works on Wall Street indicated that the market was going to be closed in accordance to Ford's death. I need to call my boss right now and see if we are supposed to come to work in the morning. Good looking out as usual West!

Thanks for the update. You would have thought that I would have remembered this as I drove up to the post office parking lot
~~~happy that it wasn't full~~~
But nooo, I had to go inside, dumbfounded as to why the 24 hour post office was closed. :-)
