Jolie's Role

In a previous post, I complained about Angelina Jolie being chosen to play slain journalist, Daniel Pearl's, widow in the movie, "A Mighty Heart."

I feel somewhat differently, now.

Let me state, at the outset that 1) I don't care how many kids Jolie adopts and 2) I realize that the movie's by Brad Pitt's production company.

None of that factored into my current or former opinion (I don't think).

I still would've preferred that they'd cast a biracial actress for the role, but seeing Jolie "all made up" lessens my pissivity. It doesn't look or feel like "Blackface," to me.

I still mildly wince at the idea of Jolie playing a (partly-) Black woman, but I'm starting to think that her features help suspend disbelief a bit more... and her box-office pull is sumpin' fierce.

Anyway, I haven't completely changed my mind, but I've got more of await-and-see attitude going on, right about now.

How about you?

I would be annoyed Jolie playing a biracial woman, excepting the fact that the real Marianne Pearl wanted Jolie to play her part. I can't be mad if that's the way it's meant to be.

Anyhow, I'll probably see this on DVD.

This movie (or any movie for that matter) is of no concern to me, so I hadn't really thought about it.

Angelina slightly irks me in general. The only role I really liked her in was in Girl, Interrupted.

I thought it was unfortunate since there are so few roles for black actors. Also, Angie clearly was not that big of a draw since the movie has been declared a commercial flop.

It seemed weird, yet very Hollywood, for Angelina to be playing Marianne Pearl. But, like the commenter above, since Marianne Pearl chose her, I'm not sure if I can really be annoyed.
