NEWS - Rumsfeld in & out

source: NPR news
President Bush said Wednesday Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld is stepping down and former CIA Director Robert Gates will take over at the Pentagon and in prosecuting the war in Iraq.

[...]

Last week, as he campaigned to save the Republican majority, Bush declared that Rumsfeld would remain at the Pentagon through the end of his term.
I don't get it, but this feels something like a victory. Ultimately, though, it's Bush and his entire administration that needs to hand over the keys to the kingdom.

West, I can say it is a victory and that the Dems have power.

Too bad here in Michigan we are the third state to allow Affirmative Action to end at state public institutions. I am pissed I voted and got the governor I wanted but damn that AA proposal passing. They did some janky stuff rewording it so yes meant no. It makes me sick cause I used to work at a state university in the middle of mostly black Detroit and the college population was about 12% black.

I saw subtle sometimes blatant racismt there. I learned about racism my 4 years going there and working there then in my entire life.

Makes me wonder how things will be at WSU now. Then thing is AA is not just for race. Supporters pointed out that gender was another factor.

Damn. That says a helluva lot.

4 years compared to a lifetime.

I think Rummie had to go if they lost. They lost both houses so Rummie was outtie. They (White House) had to look like they were doing something in the wake of the election. This was it. Everyone and their sister has been calling for his resignation so it can not be considered a complete shock.

I thought the "second house" was still up in the air.

But yeah, this was damage-control. Instead of talking about the Republican "thumpin'" all day, the media was split between that and talking about Rumsfeld's resignation.

Rove am smart gie.
