CD Mix Challenge

I don't have a day set aside for music, so... From Nikki's blog(-ring/by way of king, whom I do not know), I give you the CD Mix Challenge:

1) A favorite political track.
what's goin on - marvin gaye

i usually don't think of it politically, but i think it qualifies.

2) One of those tracks that make you dance on the dancefloor no matter what.
everybody dance now - c&c music factory

you don't want to KNOW the amount of old "bad" songs i dig.

3) The song you’d use to tell someone you love them.
baby come to me - patti austin & james ingram

i sang this song to a girl, when we were in 2nd grade, because i liked her and she didn't know it. it was my favorite song, at the time, so when it started playing, at my cousin's birthday party, i looked this girl straight in the eye and sang every word.

that monday, she was telling people that she was my girlfriend.

4) A song that has made you sit down and analyze it’s lyrics.
ain't nothin' like the real thing, baby - marvin gaye & tammy terrell (sp??)

simple song, but something about those lyrics really SPOKE to me, one day, and i had to stop to take a closer look.

5) A song that you like, that a two year old would like as well.
interplanet janet - school house rock

don't look at me like that, sucka! school house rock had the JAMS.

6) A song that gives you an energy boost.
let's get it started - black eye peas

this is one of quite a few songs, apparently, which make me lose my frickin' MIND. i'll lose all cool points, if the rest of these questions force me to reveal the others.

oh well. :p

7) A song that you and your grandparents (would probably) like.
i've been loving you too long - otis redding

that song is just ridiculous. it's so damned awesomely soulful and old-man-passionately delivered... *sigh*

8) A song that you really liked when you were 14-16, and still really like now.
let's get it started - mc hammer

#$%& you.

9) A sad song that would be in the soundtrack of the movie about your life.
you are my friend - patti labelle

TRUE friendship, not the wolf-in-sheep's-clothing that passes for it, these days, is a powerful, powerful thing, to me. discovering someone is REALLY my friend is enough to bring me to man-tears.

then i gots ta kill ya cuz you caught me man-slippin'.

10) A peppy song that would start the opening credits of the movie about your life.
i'm every woman - whitney houston (sorry, chaka)

you'd probably think i'd gone all Brokeback on that ass, but no. i've jammed to this while walking across FAMU's campus, TOO MANY TIMES to leave it off the list.

11) A good song from a genre of music that no one would guess that you liked.
i am a man of constant sorrow - soggy bottom boys

i've gotta crib this one from nikki. i dragged everybody i could to see that movie, then got a copy for home, because i enjoyed it (especially this song) so doggone much.

12) A song that you think should have been playing when you were born.
it's been a long time - rakim

keeps poppin' in my head, for some reason. *shrugs*

13) A favorite artist duo collaboration.
marvin gaye and tammy t.

lawd

14) A favorite song that you completely disagree with (politically, morally,
commonsenically, religiously etc.)
damn-near anything by Trick Daddy, but especially that "and i hate the smell of stank *****" song

ah say, LAWD

15) The song that you like despite the fact your IQ level drops several points
every time you listen to it.
damn-near anything by Trick Daddy, dammit!

16) Your smooth song, for relaxing.
careless whisper - george michael

there are a ton of'em. this is just one.

17) A song you would send to someone you hate or are mad at.
torture - method man

they talk about evil $#!+ they'd do to each other. close enough.

18) A favorite track from an outfit considered a “super-group.”
reasons - earth, wind, & fire

i don't know if they qualify, but, as steve harvey said, "that may not do it for you, but dammit, that done it fuh me."

19) A song that makes you reminsce about good times with a family member.
reminisce - pete rock n c.l. smooth

random thoughts

20) Your favorite song at this moment in time.
elephant rhino

no, that's not a song. that means "hell if i know."
